The Mamalestian Shia population of IRan has increased ten fold since the revolution. Little is known about the Mamalestian tribes of NE India. But the Mamalestians have emigrated westward into what is now NE Iran in and around the 1st century AD. They along with most other peoples of Iran converted to Shia Islam in and around the 15th century. However, the Mamalestians retain much of their traditional religious, spiritual and cultural identity.
